Deleting your Articlyst account

You can delete your Articlyst account yourself, from any of our apps, without asking us. This page explains how, what gets deleted, and what to do if you have already uninstalled the app.

Deleting an account is immediate and permanent. There is no undo and no grace period, so export anything you want to keep first.

1. From the mobile app

You are signed out as soon as the deletion succeeds, and everything Articlyst had stored on that device is erased with it.

Open Articlyst and go to the Profile tab.
Scroll to the Danger zone at the bottom of the screen.
Tap Delete account, and confirm.

2. From the web app

Sign in at the Articlyst web app.
Open the account menu and choose Account settings.
Scroll to the Danger zone and choose Delete account, then confirm.

3. If you have already uninstalled the app

Email privacy@articlyst.app from the address your account uses, with “Delete my account” as the subject. Sending it from the account’s own address is what lets us confirm the request is yours; if you cannot, say so and we will verify another way before deleting anything.

We will confirm receipt, delete the account, and confirm again when it is done. We aim to complete this within 30 days, and usually much sooner.

You do not need to reinstall the app to ask.

4. What gets deleted

Everything tied to your account, in one transaction:

Your profile — email address, name, picture and password.
Every link you saved, together with the extracted article copy, your notes, tags, ratings and reading progress.
The categories you created, including their names and colours.
Your RSS and newsletter subscriptions.
Any connected integration, including the encrypted Gmail refresh token. Disconnecting also stops any further access to your mailbox.
Your notification preferences and every device push token.
Any API tokens you issued, and any outstanding password reset tokens.

5. What may remain for a while

Encrypted backups keep a copy until they roll off on their normal schedule. Nothing is ever restored from them to bring a deleted account back.
Short-lived server request logs, which do not contain your library.
Usage events already sent to Google Analytics, which record what you did in the app rather than what you saved, and which are keyed to an account identifier that no longer resolves to anything. Deleting the account does not remove them; ask us and we will have them deleted too.
Records we are legally required to keep, if any apply.

6. If you would rather not delete everything

To stop newsletter collection without losing your library, disconnect Gmail from Subscriptions.
To stop notifications, turn them off in the Profile tab.
To remove individual articles, delete those links from your library.
